Open Forum: A homeowner wanted to know what is to
be done about commercial vehicles being parked in the neighborhood as an
example for hire vehicles. The homeowners were told that have been and will
continue to be ticketed by a board member and towed after the appropriate
notice has been given. A homeowner had a concern about the grassy areas that
need to be seeded.
Prior
to voting on the tax resolution it was explained that, under federal tax rules,
LHOA has elected to only pay tax on its investment income. The IRS holds that
the assessment income that is rolled over is not taxable income to the
association. A separate resolution must be approved by the Association members
to do this rollover. Our accountants have advised us that by adopting a
resolution that permits this rollover we are then assured that we can choose
the tax filing method those results in the lowest taxes.
Other
items raised by homeowners were: additional street lighting, painting of speed
bumps, possible illegal activity at a vacant home; and realtors advertising
that homeowners have two reserved parking spaces.
Election ot Board members and vote on tax
resolution and by-law changes:
The candidates were Anthony McSorley, Heather Pike
and Pam Stover. The votes were cast and counted.
