"Finding Balance in Busy Lives" and "Effective Networking"
The 2006 George Mason University-Fairfax County Commission for Women Lecture Series offers two upcoming presentations to help YOU. Learn how to keep your perspective and balance while juggling the day-to-day tasks at work and at home with the kids. Lead a less stressful life by attending "Finding Balance in Busy Lives" on Wednesday, March 8th, 2006.
You may also want to attend "Effective Networking" on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 where you can learn how to network in both your professional and personal life. Here you will find out how to meet new people, increase your client/customer base, find a new job, recruit volunteers, collaborate to provide services, build membership and support for your organization, or further a cause. NO RSVP is required for these lectures. Refreshments will be provided and free parking is available. Both lectures will begin at 7:30 PM in Conference Rooms 4&5 at the Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, VA. 22035. For more information, call 703-993-8846.
Free Tax Assistance for Middle and Low Income Residents at the Mason District Governmental Center
AARP Tax-Aide, the nation's largest FREE, volunteer-run tax preparation service administered by the AARP Foundation in cooperation with the IRS, will be available to ALL taxpayers with middle- and low-incomes, with special attention to those age 60 and older, starting February 1, 2006, with expanded hours at the Mason District Governmental Center Large Conference Room, 6507 Columbia Pike in Annandale. Tax preparation volunteers with training in tax law and IRS certification will be available on a walk-in basis six days a week. All tax returns will be filed electronically. The Mason District Governmental Center, 6507 Columbia Pike, Annandale, VA 22003 expanded service hours were designed for additional convenience for Mason District residents.
Please bring last year's tax return, a photo ID, your Social Security Card, and all documents needed for preparation of your 2005 taxes. The February 1 - April 17, 2006 planned hours of operation are:
Mondays and Thursdays: 10 AM - 8:30 PM
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays: 9:30 AM - 1:00 PM
Saturdays: 9 AM - 12 Noon
Senior Citizens and Disabled Tax Relief Assistance at the Mason District Government Center
Department of Tax Administration Staff will be on hand at the Mason District Government Center, 6507 Columbia Pike, Annandale, on Tuesday, February 21, and Friday, February 24, 2006, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, to assist seniors or disabled residents in filing real estate tax relief. If your income level is under $72,000 and your combined assets level is under $340,000 (excluding your home and an acre of land that the house is on) then you may be eligible for some tax relief. If you have any real estate tax-related questions prior to coming to the Mason District Governmental Center on Tuesday, February 21, and Friday, February 24, 2006, or need assistance in filing for tax relief, please call the tax information line at 703-222-8234 for assistance.
